Tri-County Electric Cooperative employees and members gave in a big way this year. Across two rounds of blood drives with Carter BloodCare, they rolled up their sleeves to help patients across North Texas who depend on donated blood.
Concern for Community is one of the seven cooperative principles, and it is part of why a co-op exists. These drives are one way that principle shows up in real life.
June: The Latest Drives
The most recent round took place June 29 and 30 in Azle, Granbury, and Keller.
The community showed up:
- 44 donors participated, including 6 who gave for the first time.
- 41 units of blood were collected.
Each unit can help save up to three lives, which means the June donations could reach up to 123 people.
January: Where the Year Started
The first round took place January 6 through 8, when employees and members turned out at offices in Azle, Keller and Granbury.
The results were just as meaningful:
- 42 donors participated, including 14 who gave for the first time.
- 43 units of blood were collected.
Those units could help up to 129 people.
What It Adds Up To
Together, the two rounds are worth pausing on:
- 86 donors gave across six drives.
- 20 of them were first-time donors.
- 84 units of blood were collected.
- Up to 252 lives could be touched.
Behind every number is a real person. A parent in surgery. A child in treatment. A driver in the emergency room after a wreck on the highway. Blood cannot be manufactured. It has to come from a donor, and donors like these help turn a need into a second chance.
Thank You, and Join Us Next Time
To everyone who gave, and to everyone who gave for the first time, thank you. You spent part of your day so someone else could have more days ahead.
If you missed these drives, you can still help. Visit Carter BloodCare to find a donor center or a drive near you at www.carterbloodcare.org/donate-blood.
We will hold more drives soon, and we hope to see you there.
