Government in Action: 2026 D.C. Youth Tour

TCEC will be sponsoring four (4) high school students to experience a once in a lifetime tour of Washington, D.C. The 2026 Government-in-Action Youth Tour is part of the cooperative’s commitment to supporting the growth and development of young people in our communities.

Applications are no longer being accepted for the 2026 Youth Tour. The deadline to apply ended on Feb. 13, 2026.

2026 Youth Tour

Selected high school students will join peers from across Texas and the nation for a weeklong trip to Washington, D.C., exploring historic landmarks, meeting elected officials, and learning about the cooperative difference.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Be a current high school student in the 10th or 11th grade at the time of application
  • Reside with parents or legal guardians who are members of TCEC with an active account at their permanent residence
  • Submit the completed electronic Youth Tour application packet by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026
  • Applicants who advance to the interview level must attend a 15-minute interview with the Youth Tour Committee. Interviews will be held 4-7 p.m. on February 16-19, 2026.
  • Selected participants must attend a pre-trip meeting with cooperative staff in May 2026 and attend the Government-in-Action Youth Tour from June 14-22, 2026.

Youth Tour applications will be evaluated by an independent third-party, not affiliated with Tri-County Electric, and participants will be notified in the spring. Immediate family of Tri-County Electric's Leadership Team are not eligible to apply.
