By April, Texas Neighborhood Services (TXNS) had already burned through 75% of its federal funds for the year. That's the reality Brad Manning, executive director of the Weatherford-based nonprofit, is navigating right now, and it's exactly why the latest Cooperative Giving contribution came at the right time.
Thanks to the continued generosity of TCEC members, employees, and corporate partners, Tri-County Electric Cooperative recently delivered an additional $15,000 in Cooperative Giving funds to TXNS. which administers the program and distributes funds to qualifying members across the 16-county service area.
“We are already 75% expended in our federal funds for the year. And its only April,” Manning said.
This latest contribution brings the total funds provided to TXNS in 2026 to $40,000. Overall, $90,000 in total contributions have been made since the partnership began last year.
“TCEC is grateful to have a partner like Texas Neighborhood Services to ensure these dollars are given to the members who need them. The assistance would not be possible without the generosity of the members, employees and other organizations that fund Cooperative Giving,” said Andrea McCleese, executive vice president, member experience.
That generosity shows no sign of slowing. In the first quarter of 2026, 156 members received assistance, already surpassing the full-year total from 2025. Participation in Round Up, where members voluntarily donate the change from rounding their bills to the next dollar, has doubled to more than 1,000 members.
It’s proof of the work Manning says TCEC does so well.
"When members call us, TCEC's representatives have already laid the groundwork. They know about Cooperative Giving, and that makes all the difference."
