600 Members Helped. $115,000 Given. One Rounded-Up Bill at a Time.

On July 21, TCEC presented Texas Neighborhood Services (TNS) with $25,000 in Cooperative Giving funds. All of it goes toward bill assistance for TCEC members facing a hard month.

With this contribution, TCEC has now given $115,000 to TNS since the partnership began in 2025. That money has helped more than 600 members keep their lights on. Each member can receive up to $250 in assistance per year.

TNS charges nothing to administer the program. Every dollar TCEC contributes reaches a member's bill.

The funds come from three places. Members sign up for the Round Up program, which rounds their electric bill up to the next dollar and donates the difference. TCEC employees give through payroll deduction and internal fundraisers. Community partners provide sponsorships. The average member contributes about $6 a year.

"This contribution tells me that the community cares about each other," said Brad Manning, TNS executive director. "It tells me that not only are members caring about fellow members, but employees care about the members they serve in more ways than one."

Cooperative Giving reflects Concern for Community, one of the seven cooperative principles.
