District 4 Run-Off Election
Tri-County Electric Cooperative’s 2023 Election results were announced at the 84th Annual Meeting of the Members on Monday, October 16. A recording is available from the meeting. Since none of the district 4 candidates received the majority of the votes, a run-off election between Jerry Walden,
incumbent, and David Miller, nomination candidate, was called and will be conducted in accordance with Roberts Rules of Order.
Election Details
The District 4 Run-Off Election will be conducted in a similar matter as the 2023 Official Election held in September. Every member is eligible to vote in the election, regardless of your district. Voting will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20. Members who vote in the run-off election by the deadline will receive a $10 bill credit. Credits will be applied in January and will appear on January or February billing statements depending on billing cycle.
Members will receive their official ballot on the back of the December Texas Co-op Power magazine and have three ways to vote:
- Online: Members can vote online and log in with the member-specific credentials provided on the ballot.
- Email: Members with a valid email address in our member information system will receive an email on December 1 with their voting credentials.
- Mail: Members can return their ballot using the envelope included in the December Texas Co-op Power magazine.
Tri-County Electric Cooperative partners with Survey and Ballot Systems (SBS) to conduct the election. No ballots will be accepted at our offices.

Identifying your director district
Each member is assigned a director district based on the member's primary account. Members can locate their director district by looking at a a recent billing statement. The grey box in the top, right-hand corner will state your district.
The Nomination Process
Members interested in seeking election to the board of directors may be nominated in two ways: the Committee on Nominations and Qualifications or through member petition.
Committee on Nominations and Qualifications
Eligible members interested in seeking nomination as a director may utilize the Committee on Nominations and Qualifications. The committee, appointed by the board of directors, is responsible for reviewing applications, resumes, petitions and other documentation for each director district scheduled for election.
- Members interested in seeking nomination as a director must complete and file an application by the deadline and include the following:
- Necessary and relevant consent forms (credit check, criminal background check, etc.)
- A petition with at least 25 signatures from members whose primary residence is located within the director district for which the applicant seeks
- An application fee of $50
Nomination by Petition
Eligible members may bypass the Committee on Nominations and Qualifications by utilizing the petition process.
- Members interested in seeking nomination as a director must complete and file an application by the deadline and include the following:
- Necessary and relevant consent forms (credit check, criminal background check, etc.)
- A petition with at least 50 signatures from members whose primary residence is located within the director district for which the applicant seeks
- An application fee of $100
Upcoming Elections
Directors serve three-year terms. Each year, one-third of the board is up for election.
2023: director districts 1, 2 and 4
2024: director districts 3, 6 and 8
2025: director districts 5, 7 and 9
