Hosting Thanksgiving this year? We understand you’ve got a lot on your plate (pun intended).
We’ve got a few tips for keeping your bill low and spirits high:
- Keep your thermostat low
- Your oven, stove, and home full of family are sure to keep you and your residence warm
- Prep your ingredients
- Your refrigerator will not have to run as long if you reduce the number of times you open the fridge or freezer doors
- Consider using smaller countertop appliances
- They use less energy
- Keep lights off in rooms that are not occupied
- Using lamps in lieu of main lights also helps
- Consider solar-powered lights if you’re taking the party outdoors
Placing your turkey in an oven-safe bag not only makes for a deliciously juicy bite, but it also reduces cooking time by around 5 minutes per pound. Additionally, allowing food to bake in the oven for the recommended time without opening the door saves your oven from using more energy to keep temperatures level. The best thing about these tips and tricks is that you can use them for all gatherings – not just Thanksgiving.
We want you to not only save energy, but also time in the kitchen so you can visit with family.
